Sheikh Abdulkareem Obaid, was abducted by Israeli commandos on 28th July 1989, from Jibchit, a village in Southern where he was the Imam (preacher.) He has been taken to the occupied land and held without charge. His crime? To be an outspoken Muslim. Eight years on, and he is still held incommunicado, and denied access to family and lawyers. Sheikh Obaid is one of many abductees, taken to the occupied territories. The Campaign to Free Sheikh Obaid was started in 1996 to campaign for the release of the Sheikh.
